The Division of Consumer Services has expanded its online services allowing businesses and individuals to register, renew and manage their licenses online.
The Solicitation of Contributions Act requires anyone who solicits donations from people in the state of Florida to register with the department and renew annually. This applies to charitable organizations, sponsors, professional solicitors, as well as professional fundraising consultants. The department collects registration fees and has authority to impose penalties for non-compliance.
Effective July 1, 2014, dance studios in Florida will no longer be required to register with the department. Section 501.143, F.S. has been repealed in its entirety.

Health studios are required to register with the department annually, and in some cases post a $25,000 surety bond, letter of credit or certificate of deposit. The purpose of this security is to reimburse members if the studio fails to meet its contractual obligations to its members. The law authorizes the department to collect registration fees; penalty fees are imposed on studios that do not register or post security.
