Training and Development Section
Overview
The Training and Development Section is responsible for coordinating and providing training opportunities for the Department’s employees. This section also takes the lead in employee development opportunities. Included among the functions of this section are:
- Providing consultative services by working with Division Subject Matter Experts to assess needs and design, develop, and evaluate Division-specific training.
- Enabling employees to accomplish their jobs with quality by
- Orienting new employees; and
- Focusing training sessions specifically for supervisors.
- Developing employees for the duration of their career with the Department by
- Continuing employee education by use of tuition reimbursement and tuition waiver programs;
- Coordinating employee participation as mentors throughout the state;
- Providing and supporting alternate training formats such as Internet based instructional materials; and
- Presenting a variety of workplace related topics such as diversity, communication, team building, and conflict resolution.
- Highlighting employee accomplishments by
- Working with employees to have the Department’s successes highlighted annually as part of the Prudential Davis Productivity Awards; and
- Serving as the point-of-contact for Service Awards that recognize the contributions and loyalty of employees.
- Encouraging a high standard of work and personal conduct by means of workshops, seminars, and training sessions regarding
- Techniques for excellent customer service in person and by phone; and
- Assisting employees with writing and grammar skills.
- Assisting with the Department’s activities related to its employees health, safety and security by
- Taking a lead role in the annual Safety Fair; and
- Coordinating and providing CPR/AED training.
