Virology Sample Submission Hints

EVA Submission

  1. EVA testing requires separated serum and should be sent on ice. Ice packs should be contained in sealed plastic bags to prevent leakage. All samples should be clearly labeled and accompanied by a completed DACS-09229 - Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) Submission Form  DOC - Click to download the Word Viewer (link will open in a new window) . It should be noted if multiple samples are to be combined or on separate reports.
  2. EVA testing is scheduled on Tuesdays and Fridays. To ensure your sample is included in a scheduled run, it is suggested the sample be submitted prior to the day of testing. All results will be reported out on Mondays and Fridays.
  3. If the animal has been vaccinated for EVA or has a prior history of a positive EVA , please make a note on the accession form. The lab will then complete a titer on the sample at the initial testing which will give the veterinarian quicker results.
  4. Any questions regarding EVA testing should be directed to the Virology Department at the Bronson Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory at (321)697-1499. For shipping information, please visit our shipping page.
