ARRA Funded Programs
Florida is continuing its commitment to increase energy efficiency, expand renewable energy production, and shrink energy impacts on the environment by administering a wide range of programs through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The Office of Energy is the entity responsible for administering the state's ARRA funding related to energy. The funds made available under the ARRA will quicken the pace in transforming Florida's economy through clean and renewable energy production by allowing Florida to make major investments in energy solutions that will strengthen the Sunshine State's economy and create jobs at the local level. Please click on the links below to learn more about the programs Florida has created.
- State Energy Program (SEP): $126,089,000
Florida has created a broad portfolio of new energy-related programs with SEP funds that align with national and Florida-specific goals. The programs created will increase jobs, reduce U.S. oil dependency through increases in energy efficiency and deployment of renewable energy technologies, promote economic vitality through an increase in “green jobs,” and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. - Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant (EECBG): $30,401,600
Florida is leveraging funds available through the EECBG Program to address energy efficiency and conservation priorities at both the state and local level. Specifically, Florida has allocated more than 60% of the EECBG funds to eligible counties and municipalities through a competitive grant process. The remaining EECBG funds are being disbursed through a variety of programs and initiatives that align with EECBG eligible activities. - Energy Assurance Grant Program: $1,881,676
This is a collaborative effort involving several state agencies to review and strengthen Florida's Energy Assurance Plan by incorporating recent and planned smart grid improvements and renewable energy facilities. This program will replace Florida's current electric outage reporting system with an automated system and combine that with an electric outage mapping system.
