Frequently Asked Questions
- How does one obtain a Master Registration?
A distributor of commercial feed must be registered with the Feed Section prior to distributing feed in Florida. The Application for Feed Master Registration (DACS-13244) must be completed and mailed to the Feed Section, accompanied by a fee that shall be based on tons of feed distributed in Florida during the previous year. If a distributor has been in business less than one year, the tonnage shall be estimated for the first year and based on actual tonnage thereafter. All registrations expire on June 30th of each year and must be renewed annually.
- How many samples should be sent to a certified lab for testing?
Once a distributor submits the Application for Master Registration, a packet of information will be mailed to them. This information will indicate the required number of samples and analyses that must be submitted based on feed type and tonnage.
- How does one interpret the laboratory analytical report?
The registered distributor of commercial feed will submit the required number of feed samples to a certified lab for analysis. The certified lab will send the analysis report to the feed distributor, and it will state whether the sample is legal, illegal, and/or deficient.
- How does one contact the certified labs?
The list of certified labs is constantly changing. For a current list contact the Feed Section.
