A pesticide dealer license is required for the sale or distribution of any restricted use pesticide in the State of Florida. This includes pesticide manufacturers, packagers, distributors, dealers, individuals, etc. who sell or distribute restricted use pesticides in Florida. A license is required for any sale or distribution into Florida from out of state, or within Florida, regardless of whether the restricted use product is sold or distributed to an end user or to a pesticide manufacturer, packager, distributor, dealer, or other individual or party. Transport of restricted use pesticides without any change in ownership of the products does not require a pesticide dealer license. - How does one obtain a pesticide dealer license?
A completed application for pesticide dealer license must be submitted to the Pesticide Certification Section with the required license fee to obtain a pesticide dealer license.
- What is the duration and cost of the license?
The pesticide dealer license is valid for one year from the date issued, and the license fee amount is $250.
- Will there be a notification when the license is about to
expire?
Yes, a renewal notice will be mailed approximately 60 days before the license expires. It is important that we have a current mailing address on file so the renewal notice will not be misdelivered or returned undeliverable. If a pesticide dealer's mailing address has changed, a written notice must be mailed or faxed to the Pesticide Certification Section to update the mailing address on file. The notice should include the complete name of the licensed business or individual, the license number, and the new address. The notice must be signed and dated by an authorized representative of the dealership.
- What is the procedure for renewing the license?
In order to renew the license, an authorized representative of the licensed dealer must complete and sign the renewal notice and return it to our office with the license renewal fee of $250. If no renewal notice is received, call our office at (850) 617-7870 for a copy.
- How does one inform the office of a change in address?
A signed, written notice must be submitted to the Pesticide Certification Section to change any address on file. The notice must include the business or individual's complete name, license number, and new address. The notice must be signed by an authorized representative of the licensed dealer. The notice may be mailed, faxed, or emailed to the Pesticide Certification Section. Emails must include a scanned signature.
- What is the procedure to report a business name change or
change in ownership?
It is important to notify the Department when there is any change in the business name, ownership of the business, federal employer identification number, or other important information related to the business. A written notification signed by an authorized representative of the pesticide dealer must be submitted to the Pesticide Certification Section to change the business name on file. Questions may be directed to (850) 617-7870.
- How can a pesticide dealer verify that a restricted use pesticide
purchaser has a current pesticide applicator or dealer license?
The Division web site www.flaes.org has searchable databases of licensed pesticide applicators, pest control companies, and pesticide dealers in Florida (direct link www.flaes.org/complimonitoring/databasesearch/index.html). These databases provide the issue and expiration dates of current license holders. Pesticide dealers may also call the appropriate FDACS office to verify license status: (850) 617-7870 for pesticide dealers and agricultural and related pesticide applicators; (850) 617-7997 for commercial structural pest control companies, certified pest control operators, ID card holders (service technicians), and limited license holders (Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance, Limited Lawn and Ornamental, and Limited Structural); or (850) 617-7559 for public health/mosquito control pesticide applicators. To verify licenses of out-of state pesticide purchasers, pesticide dealers may use the National Pesticide Information Center’s web map at http://npic.orst.edu/state1.htm which provides links to individual state pesticide regulatory agency web sites. Some agencies have online license verification available, or telephone numbers may be provided for license verification.
