Citrus Budwood & Seed for Exporting

Plant material intended for export must meet the Plant health (Phytosanitary) requirements of the receiving state or country.

Permits and Certificates

An Import Permit issued by the receiving state or country is required to ship citrus budwood or seed into other citrus producing countries and states.

A Phytosanitary Export Certificate must be issued when the material is being packaged for shipment. The Phytosanitary Export Certificate is valid for 14 days.

Required Information

The following information is needed prior to mailing an order for budwood:

  1. A copy of the issuing country's import permit stating conditions of treatment, if any. This permit should be in English, signed and dated, and have a permit number.
  2. Name and address of consignee.
  3. Means of conveyance; such as, personal bag, courier, airmail, express mail or other.
  4. Declared point of entry into the importing country.
  5. Any additional declarations or conditions.

Ordering

When placing an order for budwood, please submit a copy of the import permit with the above information to:

Inspection

After the material has been inspected and just prior to shipment, the Phytosanitary Certificate is completed by a Division of Plant Industry, Plant Inspection Specialist.

Payment

A certified bank draft or International Money Order, made payable to the Division of Plant Industry, must be received prior to shipment of budwood. Charges for out of state shipment of budwood is $2.00 per budeye plus $100 processing fee (U.S. dollars) plus shipping (actual cost) and Phytosanitary Certificate fee. (A fee of $50 is charged for each certificate.)

Shipping

We use FedEx for most of our shipments. The shipping charges will be prepaid and added to order. If the importer prefers another shipper, he must make those arrangements with the shipping company.
