Tetraleurodes mori QuaintanceCommon name: mulberry whitefly |
![]() |
Diagnosis: Pupal case shining black with a white cottony fringe of wax. The adult female is yellow with deep brownish-red eyes. The wings have brownish-black spots.
Comments: Superficially this species is very similar to Tetraleurodes ursorum, but generally has a more conspicuous white wax fringe than ursorum. In most cases a microslide will be needed for accurate separation. On the microslide mori never has a cell-like structure in the postlateral margin of vasiform orifice. T. mori also has a group of 3 to 8 minute disc pores on each side of abdominal segment IV.
Apparently this species is not economically important on citrus in Florida.
