ORIENTAL FRUIT FLY DETECTIONS
2010
August 2010, two male Oriental fruit flies were found in Safety Harbor, Pinellas County, Florida. An enhanced trapping program ran in an 81-square mile area for three months with no new fly detections.

2007
In July 2007, a single male Oriental fruit fly was detected during a routine trap inspection in Valrico, Hillsborough County.

2002
On 5 November 2002, a single male Oriental fruit fly was detected at a residence in Pompano Beach, Broward County.
On 8 August 2002, a single male Oriental fruit fly was detected at a residence in Orlando, Orange County. A second OFF was detected on 6 September 2002 about four miles away. No further flies have been detected at either area and no eradication program was undertaken.
2001
In July 2001, two male Oriental fruit flies were detected at two residences in Sarasota. An eradication program was undertaken and successfully completed.
In June 2001, a single male Oriental fruit fly was found near Kissimmee in Osceola County. No further flies were detected in the area.
2000
In June 2000, a single male Oriental fruit fly was found in Bradenton in Manatee County. No further flies were detected in the area.
1999
From May 17 to July 30, 17 Oriental fruit flies were detected in central Florida: 12 males and four females throughout Tampa, and a single male near Deltona in Volusia County.
