Paraleyrodes perseae Quaintance
Common name: plumeria whitefly
Diagnosis: The pupal case is yellowish brown; empty case colorless. A profuse dorsal secretion of wax ribbons are usually present. The ribbons arise from the submarginal dorsal area and curve outward and downward beyond the margin. Clear wax rods can be seen projecting from compound pores on the abdomen, and broken wax rods are usually present on the leaf.
Comments: The pupal cases and larvae of this species may be confused with P. minei, Aleurodicus dispersus, and Metaleurodicus cardini. A microslide mount of the pupal cases readily shows characters to distinguish these 4 species.
