Permitting Procedures for Harvesting Plants on the Regulated Plant Index
- First determine if the plant or plants you want to collect are on the regulated plant list--See Rule 5B-40
(scroll through bookmarks to 5B-40) - Plants listed as endangered and commercially exploited require land owner permission and a permit issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS).
- Plants listed as threatened require only land owner permission.

Steps to Receiving a Collection Permit for Endangered or Commercially Exploited Plants
- Complete a Request for Permit to Harvest Endangered or Commercially Exploited Plant(s) or Plant Parts, this application can be found at: http://www.freshfromflorida.com/onestop/forms/08051.pdf

- Complete the application and obtain written permission from the landowner(s).
- Send your application to Gainesville headquarters (attn: Certification Specialist) along with written permission from the landowner(s). An inspector may contact you afterwards to visit the site.
- After the inspector approves your request, the application is returned to Gainesville for the botanist's review and, if approved, a permit is issued to you. The permit is valid for one year from date of issue.
