TALLAHASSEE – Florida Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Charles H. Bronson today announced the arrest of an unlicensed Central Florida telemarketer who was soliciting telemarketing sales without a license and employing unlicensed telemarketers.

Arrested by Bronson’s Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement was Diane E. Crosby, 56, of Daytona Beach.

Authorities allege that Crosby and her unlicensed employees were soliciting telemarketing sales without a license at Vacation Concepts, located at 345 Beville Road, Suite 109, South Daytona, during a March 16 compliance inspection conducted by Bronson’s Consumer Services Division. According to Bronson’s Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement, Crosby had been previously issued a cease and desist order for telemarketing without a license in November 2007.

Following her arrest, Crosby was immediately booked into the Volusia County Jail on $2,000.00 bond on charges of Commercial Telephone Seller Soliciting Without a License and Commercial Telephone Seller Employing Unlicensed Sales People.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services regulates the telemarketing industry in Florida through its Division of Consumer Services. Bronson encourages consumers to call his office at 1 800 HELP FLA (435-7352) to check on the registration status or complaint history of such businesses. Consumers wishing to file complaints against telemarketers can do so online at www.800helpfla.com or by calling the toll-free number listed above to obtain a complaint form.
