Florida Propane Gas, Education, Safety and Research Act (FPGESRA)
The 1997 Florida Legislature passed the Florida Propane Gas , Education, Safety and Research Act for the purpose of providing the industry a mechanism for development of projects to benefit Florida's consumers and the propane gas industry. To oversee this project, the Florida Propane Gas , Education, Safety and Research Council was established. Through a regulatory assessment on the industry (currently $.001 per gallon of odorized gas sold in the state), which is collected and managed by the Bureau of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Inspections, the Council develops and implements projects in the areas of education, research, safety and development, and marketing. Council Makeup and Membership
The FPGESRA Council consists of 15 members from the following groups:
- One citizen/public member
- 10 members representing dealers of propane gas (no more than two members may be from any one company)
- Two members representing producers
- Two members representing manufacturers and distributors.
