Trailhead Location: Traveling on Interstate 10 west of Jacksonville take exit 301. Go north on U.S. 41 into White Springs. Turn right on to County Road 135, go 3.3 miles. Turn right on to Godwin Bridge Road, go 1.5 miles into Big Shoals Entrance. Traveling on Interstate 10 east of Tallahassee take exit 41. Turn right on to County Road 137, go until road ends. Go north (turn right) on County Road 136 into White Springs. Turn right on to U.S. 41 (flashing light). Turn left on to County Road 135 and go 3.3 miles. Turn right on to Godwin Bridge Road and go 1.5 miles into entrance of Big Shoals.

From Palatka: Take State Road 20 west 14.5 miles to West Street (there is a brown DOT informational sign on state road 20 when you are getting close to West Street). Turn north on West Street, and go approximately 4/10 of a mile. The trailhead and parking area will be on your right.
From Interlachen: From the intersection of state road 20 and County Road 315, take State Road 20 east 1 mile to West Street. Follow the directions above once you have turned north on West Street.

After crossing the St. John’s River bridge in Astor, travel east on state road 40. Go .6 mile past bridge and turn south (right) on to St. John’s River Road (dirt road), go 3.4 miles to the Bluffton Recreation Area (road ends). Trailhead is at the east end of the Bluffton Recreation Area. From the intersection of U.S. 17 and state road 40 in Barberville, go west on state road 40 for 5.8 miles. Turn south (left) on to St. John’s River road and follow previous directions to trailhead.

From the intersection of U.S. 27 and U.S. 60 in Lake Wales, take U.S. 60 east for 9.5 miles. Turn south on to Walk in the Water road, go 9 miles to stop sign at County Road 630A intersection. (Walk in the Water road becomes Blue Jordan road south of County Road 630A.) Go 2 miles to flashing light at North Lake Reedy Boulevard turn left on to North Lake Reedy Boulevard, go 1.6 miles to Lake Arbuckle road turn left on to Lake Arbuckle Road, go 1.5 miles to Rucks Dairy Road (dirt road) and turn right. Paula Dockery/Reedy Creek Trail Kiosk is on left at fork in the road.

Withlacoochee State Forest

Citrus "A"

Trailhead Location: From State Road 44 in Inverness, go south on Citrus County Road 581 for 2 miles. Holder Mine Recreation Area sign is on west (right) side of the road. Turn west on to Forest Road 10 (Trail 10), go 2 miles. Trailhead kiosk and parking area is at the west end of the recreation area, on the south (left) side of the road, intersection of Forest Roads 9 & 10. From U.S. Highway 41 in Brooksville, go north for 5 miles, turn left at the "Y" on to Snow Memorial Highway (Hernando County Road 481). The road number changes to Citrus County Road 581 at the county line. Go north on 481/581 for 13 miles to the Holder Mine Recreation Area sign on the west side of the road. Turn west on to Forest Road 10 (Trail 10), go 2 miles. Trailhead kiosk and parking area is at the west end of the recreation area, on the south (left) side of the road, intersection of Forest Roads 9 & 10.

McKethan Lake

Trailhead Location: Day use fee required at this location. From U.S. Highway 41 in Brooksville, go north for 7 miles, turn left at McKethan Lake Day Use Area sign. The entrance road is the second paved road north of the intersection of Highway 41 and Lake Lindsay Road (County Road 476). The trailhead is on the right at the end of the paved one-way road that circles around the lake. From the intersection of State Road 44 and U.S. Highway 41 in Inverness, go south on U.S. Highway 41 for 12 miles. Turn right at the McKethan Lake Day Use Area sign. The entrance road is the second paved road north of the intersection of Highway 41 and Lake Lindsay Road (County Road 476). The trailhead is on the right at the end of the paved one-way road that circles around the lake.

No Pets Allowed.

Richloam South

Trailhead Location: From the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and State Road 50 (U.S. 98) in Ridge Manor, go east on State Road 50 for 5 miles to Richloam Clay Sink Road (there is a Little River Trailhead sign on the north side of State Road 50). Turn south (right) on to Richloam Clay Sink Road and go 1 mile to the Richloam Fire Tower Trailhead on the west (right) side of the road. From the intersection of Sumter County Road 471 and State Road 50 in Tarrytown, travel west on State Road 50 for 6 miles to Richloam Clay Sink Road turn S. (left) on to Richloam Clay Sink Road and go 1 mile to the Richloam Fire Tower Trailhead on the west (right) side of the road.

Croom "A"

From U.S. Highway 41 in Brooksville, turn east on to Croom Road and go east for 5 miles to Tucker Till Trailhead located adjacent to the Tucker Hill Fire Tower. Equestrian parking is on the north (left) side of the road; parking for hikers and off-road bicyclists is on the south (right) side.

River Trail/Croom

Take I-75 to Exit 301 (Brooksville); head east on SR-50/U.S. Hwy 98 S. Continue to the third traffic light. Turn left (north) on Croom-Rital Road. Continue around the first turn to the entrance to the Withlacoochee State Trail Ridge Manor Trailhead. Entrance to River Trail is just east of the picnic shelter and rest room. River Trail is a 7 mile linear trail with the northern terminus being located at entrance to Crooked River Campground.

Hog Island

Directions are the same as the River Trail/Croom Trail. Stop at the day use area parking. Trail begins at kiosk located to the right of the boat/canoe launch ramp.

Special Notice

The Trailwalker Trail at Hog Island Day-Use Area is temporarily closed for Timber Management/Sale Activity. The reopening date will be posted as activities progress and the trail is safe for use.
