Division of Food, Nutrition and Wellness

The core function of the Division of Food, Nutrition and Wellness is to conduct, supervise and administer child nutrition and commodity food distribution programs that are carried out using state or federal funds. In addition, the division provides outreach, guidance and training to sponsors, schools, school food service directors, parent and teacher organizations, and students about the benefit of fresh food produced in Florida.

Vision

The division's vision is to improve the health and well-being of Florida residents through programs and initiatives that facilitate access to Florida agricultural commodities, promote the adoption of healthy lifestyles and reduce the presence of hunger, malnutrition and obesity in the state of Florida.

Mission

It is the mission of the Division of Food, Nutrition and Wellness to:

  1. Ensure that every child in the state of Florida has access to a healthy, nutritious meal each day;
  2. Increase awareness and consumption of Florida agricultural commodities;
  3. Reduce food insecurity among Florida’s most vulnerable populations; and
  4. Encourage healthy lifestyles among Florida residents.
