The Commissioner’s Agricultural-Environmental Leadership Award has been presented annually since 1994. The program spotlights the environmentally innovative farming practices of the state’s growers and ranchers. While nominees come from different parts of Florida’s agricultural industry, they all share a commitment to protect and preserve Florida’s resources while continuing to provide agricultural products for society.
Men and women who have made outstanding contributions to Florida agriculture are inducted annually into the Florida Agricultural Hall of Fame. Inductees have come from all walks of life including agricultural teachers, researchers, farmers, ranchers and government. Their lives and achievements are commemorated in a display on permanent exhibit in the Florida Agricultural Hall of Fame Foundation building at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa. The nomination deadline is September 1.
Since 1985, women who have made outstanding contributions to Florida agriculture have been honored with the “Woman of the Year in Agriculture” award. Recipients of the “Woman of the Year in Agriculture” award have come from all parts of the industry, including cattle, vegetables, timber, citrus, row crops, equine, horticulture, tropical fruits, sugar cane, dairy, agricultural journalism, and agricultural education and outreach. The award is presented to the recipient during the Florida State Fair in Tampa. The nomination deadline is June 1.
